July 4 - Independence Celebration
The Town of Springerville holds its annual event including a parade, a rodeo, and a fireworks showt. The parade starts in the late morning, beginning in the neighbor town of Eagar, and finishes in Springerville. All residents and neighboring communities are open to participate, and the result is a colorful display of floats, bands, and horseback riders showcasing the best of northeastern Arizona. The sanctioned rodeo lasts for two days and is sponsored by the Apache County Sheriff's Posse.
UPDATE: The fireworks show was awesome. One might expect a small show for a relatively small town, but the throngs of people who managed to get a good spot were dazzled by the spectacular display of light and sound. The incredible turn out will hopefully insure a bigger and more amazing production next year.
October Annual Fly-In
Round Valley Aero Club EAA Chapter 1412 is hosting its annual Breakfast Open House Fly-In at Springerville airport. Come join us for food, fun, the Round Valley RC Flyers Demonstration, transportation into Springerville, and tours at Casa Malpais Archelogical Site. The event will last from 7am till 1pm on the first Saturday in October.
UPDATE: The Biscuits and Gravy Fly-In was delicious! Local residents and pilots, as well as Arizona golfers flying in for a neighborhood tournament, stopped by for a generous helping of biscuits and spicy sausage gravy. Served up in the FBO hanger against the backdrop of Springerville's project and pampered planes there was plenty of breakfast to go around and no one went home hungry.
