These plans are formulated on the basis of overall transportation demands and are coordinated with other transportation planning and comprehensive land use planning. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems is a ten-year plan continually updated and published by the FAA which lists developments at public use airports that are considered to be of national interest and thus eligible for financial assistance for airport planning and development under the Airport and Airway Improvement Act of 1982. The airport master planning process involves collecting data, forecasting demand, determining facility requirements, studying various alternatives and developing plans and schedules.
